The concept: The concept is simple. We propose a theme and invite you to join a meditation on a certain date and time. The meditation is done offline. You can do it wherever and however you want. You can meditate alone or with friends. You are connected to all other participants by intent. There is no website to sign up to, no group to join, no meeting rooms to enter, and no fees to pay.
Day and time: The meditation will take place on the first Saturday of each month, always at 3 pm BST (for local times click on the dates above, be aware of changes in the time due to summertime). The first meditation is on 6 April 2024.
We selected the day and time with the aim to enable as many of us as possible worldwide to participate in the meditation. The short format of the meditation takes into account that we are all at different phases of our day when the meditation takes place. We know that for some time zones the scheduled time is quite early/late and we apologise for that. Even if you cannot be awake at the exact time of the meditation, you can still participate if you set your intent before going to sleep.
Topics: Of all the millions of possible themes, we initially chose four that we believe are universal to all of us on this planet. These topics are peace, health, joy and love. For now, we will rotate these topics (in the above order).
Each topic has a personal / internal aspect and an external / global or social aspect. You can focus on either or both in the meditation. For instance, when sending the energy of peace, you can focus for one minute on sending peace to the world and the second minute on sending inner peace to someone you know is in imbalance. When you receive peace, you can receive it during one minute for yourself and during the other minute you can receive it as part of your community. The same goes for the other topics and energies.
Process: We first invite you to take a minute of preparation to find some calm and make yourself comfortable. If you wish, you can concentrate on your breath, letting your breathing become slower and deeper. In the first and second minute of the meditation, we focus on sending the energy outwards. As said, you can send it to the planet or to a specific person or group, or both. In the third and fourth minute of the meditation, allow yourself to receive the energy that was just shared. You can receive the energy for you personally or representatively for mankind, or a combination of both. After the four minutes, simply come out of the meditation and continue your day.
How to meditate: There are numerous meditation techniques and styles: lying down, sitting standing, walking, indoor, outdoor, with or without music. Select the one that suits you best, or experiment with different ones, as you like.
If you wish to try them, we have two suggestions: First, allow yourself not to be distracted during the meditation. Second, try to use your feelings (heart) rather than your intellect (brain). For example, focus on how you would feel if there was inner /outer peace in your life, rather than make a to-do-list of action items you think are needed to achieve peace.
Formalities/costs: The meditations and access to this website are free for everyone. We do not generate any financial revenue from this website. There are no fees or signup requirements. If you are asked to pay a fee or sign up to something, this is not us.
Sharing: You can share and re-post the information on this website if you do so responsibly and not for commercial purposes.
Online presence: All we want to do is bring people together for the purpose of meditating for a common topic. This website is the only online presence of 4-minute-meditation.com. We are not present on or connected to any other websites, social media sites and do not operate YouTube channels, chat groups or send out email communications, newsletters or ask for money.
Privacy: This site is monitored and managed only to update the information on the meditation and ensure its functioning. We do not track or use your personal data.
